YuYu Hakusho Drabble # 1

"Kurama, it's been awhile."

His green orbs turn to gaze at me, contentment evident on his normally placid face. A small and rare smile graces his countenance, almost taking my breath away.

"Botan." He slightly cocks his head to a side and continues, "I just wish the circumstances were more...agreeable."

So many things left unsaid....

My vision blurs as tears threaten to spill. “Are you ready?” He nods sadly.

But maybe in his next lifetime, I say silently as I steal a look at his limp body on the ground one more time before taking his soul to Reikai.

Notes: Standard disclaimers apply. And, to explain a few things, a drabble is, according to Wikipedia, "an extremely short work of fiction exactly one hundred words in length." I don't even know if this piece can be called a drabble (more like random ramblings), brevity and all.

Kurama (Dennis) and Botan (Charlene) are characters of the brilliant anime created by Togashi Yoshihiro, YuYu Hakusho (Ghost Fighter). Botan is a shinigami (she's the Japanese counterpart of the Grim Reaper), a death deity, one who escorts souls to Reikai, the Spirit World.
